Hamilton Has Surgery To Repair Sports Hernia

PHILADELPHIA (CBSDFW.COM) - Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton successfully went under the knife today to repair a sports hernia.  According to a statement from the Texas Rangers, Hamilton had the surgery this morning in Philadelphia.
The hernia was on the left side of the slugger's body.

The injury became a focal point of media questions during the team's recent quest for their first World Series trophy.  Hamilton had one home run and 6 RBI while batting .241 in 7 games.  Texas eventually lost the World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Rangers say Hamilton should return to North Texas tomorrow.  The team expects him to fully recover from the surgery in time for spring training in February.
