KELLER (CBSDFW.COM) - A group of Keller residents is trying to recall the city's mayor, 18 months into his term.

The petition to recall Mark Mathews alleges conflicts of interest during votes on development, and directing citation money to benefit his own neighborhood.

Mathews was not immediately available to comment on the petition.

The petition lists 21 concerns. Many of the listed concerns center on claims members of Mathews immediate and extended family work for a land planning and design firm that was presenting projects to the city. The petition says Mathews never disclosed the relationships before voting on the issues.

Linda Taylor, one of the organizers of the recall effort, said the group had consulted with three attorneys on the recall, and to help draft the petition. Taylor was not immediately sure of the exact number of signatures needed to get the issue on a ballot, but estimated the number to be close to 1,500.

Taylor could not say how soon the group wanted to get the recall on a ballot.
