Great Morning, Great Weekend
Morning rain and clouds kept temperatures in the 70's all morning. Then the sun broke out mid-day, temperatures warmed to 90°; well below normal highs for the dog days in August. Its been a nice run of cooler weather after a hot start to August. Just last Friday it was 102°:
This morning the temperature dropped to 68°, the coolest morning in about a month at DFW. The morning rain inside the metroplex was modest, about a tenth of an inch fell at the airport.
A very nice weekend is in store for us. It starts in a spectacular way; morning lows tomorrow will again be in the upper 60's under mostly clear skies and light winds. That's a morning more like September than August. Just two years ago on this date we set a record for the warmest morning temperature ever; in 2012 the low was a very muggy 86°.

We are watching the Gulf of Mexico. A tropical system is trying to get organized, it might become a tropical storm over the next two days. The slew of hurricane forecast models are reaching some consensus that the storm turns into south Texas by Monday:
If this system brings rain into north Texas it'll likely be either late on Monday or on Tuesday. For now we'll just say cloud cover from the tropics. Highs will get back to hot by the end of next week:
