GOP Says White Made Racially Charged Statements (Audio)

While I was talking with Bryan Preston at the Texas Republican Party today he said the Democrat running for Governor, Bill White, is engaging in "disgusting" racial politics.  That's after he told a mostly African-American audience in Dallas that he wants to be a governor who is a "servant" and Governor Perry wants views his role as a "master."

I challenged Preston on it but he stuck to his guns.

Governor Perry has now asked White to apologize for saying that.

In response, Katy Bacon with the White campaign told me in an email:

"Servant leadership is a deeply held value of Bill White. People of all backgrounds and all parts of Texas agree that we need a governor who's in it to serve Texans, instead of Rick Perry, who's in it for himself. Bill's talked about servant leadership everywhere from the Kingwood Tea Party to the Texas Farm Bureau to the Democratic Convention."

Bacon also pointed to media accounts of White's speeches around Texas.   You can check out some of those here, here and here
