GOP Governors Lag In Campaign Dollars

WASHINGTON (AP) - The sitting governors running for the Republican presidential nomination are finding their fundraising badly overmatched by their competitors.

Documents filed Thursday with federal regulators show Ohio's John Kasich, New Jersey's Chris Christie and Louisiana's Bobby Jindal have been struggling to bring in money and burning through it quickly.

That's left them with relatively little left in the bank compared with rivals like Ben Carson, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who have each raised more than $10 million.

The numbers are especially troubling for Jindal, who began the month with just $261,000 left in the bank. That will make it hard for him to sustain his campaign operation.

Christie and Kasich are also at the lower end of the fundraising spectrum.
