Getting Back to Dry Weather

FORECAST

Today: Storms East this Afternoon, Partly Cloudy Metro area and west, Highs: 82, Winds N 5-10

Tonight: Mostly Clear, Lows: Upper 50's, Winds N 10-15

Tomorrow: Mostly Sunny, Highs: 81, Winds NW 10-15

Morning storms and rain slowed the Wednesday morning commute, our second round of rain in the last four days. Early reports on amounts show about .75" to 1" of rain fell across the metroplex. While the rain is clearing the metroplex this morning, it remains scattered about north up to the Red River.  Some of those rainfall amounts as reported up to 7am:

DFW .81"

Meacham .85"

Alliance 1.13"

Love Field .65"

STILL SOME STORMS AROUND TODAY

We should get enough daytime heating to fire up some strong storms in our eastern counties. This disturbance moving across north Texas will still be over our eastern counties in the afternoon creating those storms. There is a slight risk even of some severe weather before the day is out but that is solely in our eastern fringe from Paris down to Palestine.  For the metroplex a nice afternoon in store as a northwest wind clears the skies some and temperatures rise into the low 80's.  Below shows the risk of wind damage today according to the Storm Prediction Center. The black dots represent population density, you can see how the yellow area (15% chance) is to the east of the metroplex:

 TYPICAL DAY WEATHER IS BACK

The dry weather that has so dominated our weather story over the last year is back starting later today. We'll likely not see rain again until the middle of next week. We close the workweek with some fantastic weather. Highs tomorrow and Friday will get in the low 80's with some cool nights ahead, lows should drop into the 50's.  These are the highs you'd expect this time of year.

 THIS WEEKEND? NOT TYPICAL

Yes it'll be dry this weekend but a steady south wind and sunshine will get highs into the upper 80's and 90° range. We are forecasting a high of 90° for DFW on Sunday, the typical high for that day is 78°. A nice warm weekend to get out and enjoy because some cooler weather is headed toward us.

MID-WEEK NEXT WEEK: FEELING LIKE FALL

I'm still not all in in regards to the big cool down that some of the long range models are showing. None the less a conservative forecast puts highs in the mid-70's by Tuesday, it should be cooler than that on Wednesday of next week. Larry and Jeff will update us all later this afternoon, I certainly trust them more than the forecast models. The EWMRF (we often call the "European Model") shows 2-meter temperatures at 00z  (the forecasted temperature about 6ft off the ground at 6pm) going from 77° on Monday to 67° on Tuesday. I am currently forecasting a high on Monday of 89° and then 75° on Tuesday.
