Garrett The Decision Maker? No Chance

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - As we continue to wait for an announcement on the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, know this.   Jason Garrett will have input in decisions but will not be the ultimate decision maker.

Jerry Jones has kind of said as much by saying (and slipping a bit) that "Jason will have input" in the decision-making process.  The proof is right before your eyes if Todd Bowles is a member of the coaching staff.  The former Cowboys assistant/Dolphins secondary coach/Dolphins assistant head coach interviewed for the "head coaching" position yesterday.  If Bowles joins the staff in any capacity, the decision will be made, ultimately, by Jerry Jones.  That means nothing has changed along that front.  I'm just wondering if the control over coach hirings is making this thing drag on a little bit.

Troy Aikman said it this morning on his KTCK-AM radio segment.  "Jason will have input."  Aikman knows these things as he and Garrett are close friends and certainly they have discussed these days of negotiation for Garrett, one would think.  Otherwise, how will the Cowboys position an announcement of hiring Garrett for one job, while the interim coach, and Bowles potentially for another as maybe defensive coordinator if the Dolphins clean house?  The answer is that the general manager made the decision.  Don't expect an announcement on both at the same time, but we all know the score.
