Friends & Family Remember Slain Dallas Hairdresser
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – At the Lakewood Theater Sunday, about a dozen of the 100 attendees shared a microphone throughout the afternoon, regaling one another with individual memories of a woman who was tragically taken too soon.
Elizabeth Lightfoot, 22, died from smoke inhalation after her car was set ablaze in the early-morning hours of Nov. 4. Her assailant has not been caught.
However difficult, friends and family used Sunday's public memorial as a way of remembering and honoring the person who Lightfoot was.
"She was an incredible person and she had a heart; she had a heart bigger than life," said her father David Lightfoot.
Lightfoot's family held a private memorial for Elizabeth Saturday. On Sunday, her friends were given a chance to speak. Many told stories emphasizing how accepting, "funky" and full of life their friend was.
Elizabeth's best friend Bethany Moore showed a Powerpoint filled with music and pictures. Her father said the day offered him a slice of solace, seeing how many people appreciated his daughter.
"It's incredible, just hearing what people had to say and how she impacted so many lives," he said. "It was difficult to hear them, but it was good to hear them."
Over and over, friends stressed how "not judgmental" and accepting Elizabeth was and how diverse and passionate her friendships were. Many said their friend would be the last person to inspire any ill-will in another person and they were perplexed as to whom would do something so brutal to her.
While standing outside of the theater holding a pink rose – his daughter's favorite color – David Lightfoot pleaded with anyone who had information about the crime to tell police.
"Come forward, say something, speak up, speak out. I don't care how minor it may seem because we need, we need to know. We want to know who's responsible for this," he said. "it's just like your heart is just shattered, absolutely shattered."
Oak Farms Dairy has offered a $10,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest of the person or people involved.
