Fort Worth's Food Trucks Have A Place To Call Home

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Fort Worth's food trucks now have a permanent place to park.

The new food park is on Weisenberger Street in Fort Worth, north of the new West 7th development and right behind the Target store in Montgomery Plaza.

The rain and cooler weather didn't keep foodies away from he grand opening Friday night.  "I love stuff like this.  I love this kind of weather," says John Ledesma "Plus you have food everywhere you can't stop me."

There will be six trailers serving a wide range of foods including taqueria-style tacos, bbq, vegan and gluten-free dishes, cupcakes and burgers.

"Everything is wonderful. the grilled cheese as you can tell  is wonderful the line is a mile long," said Kelley Servigon who had a date night there with her husband Eddie.

"I want it to feel almost like you're walking into someone's backyard, except you're getting great food and live music," said the park owner Chris Kruger.

The idea maybe new here in North Texas, but it's been embraced for some time in Austin and San Antonio.

"I think that's what we like to bring out our own little piece of Austin here but in our own Fort Worth way. Fort Wort has it's own independent vibe to it and supports independent businesses well," said Kruger.

Red Jett Sweets isn't knew to Fort Worth.  The mobile cupcakery has trucks near TCU and Montgomery Plaza, but before they could only stay for an hour at a time.

"We've watched the trend on the east coast and west coast and were like I think this is heading our way," Christina Jett/Red Jett Sweets

The food park will operate on the weekends for now serving lunch and dinner.

They will open at 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on those days and starting next week the vendors will offer dinner on Thursday nights.
