Police respond after woman killed in suspected road rage shooting on I-20 in Fort Worth; eastbound lanes closed
Emergency crews responded to a suspected road rage shooting on Interstate 20 in Fort Worth that left a woman dead Thursday morning, authorities say. The incident also shut down all eastbound lanes.
According to TxDOT, the incident happened just before 6:40 a.m. at I-20 and Trail Lake Drive, near Granbury Road.
During a news conference, Fort Worth Police Officer Cynthia Wood confirmed that witnesses reported seeing the victim and suspect involved in a road rage situation while traveling in the eastbound lanes. Witnesses said the suspect began shooting and struck the victim, identified only as a woman, causing the vehicle to crash.
Police said the suspect then fled the scene.
When responders arrived and found the victim inside her vehicle, she was pronounced dead.
