Forney H.S. Reschedules STAAR Testing Due To Water Damage

FORNEY (CBSDFW.COM) – About three-quarters of Forney High School was damaged after a pipe in the main water line broke on Sunday morning, school officials said.

According to a note on the Forney Independent School District website, the pipe broke Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and went unnoticed until 6 p.m. that night after ceiling tiles collapsed under the weight of accumulated water.

Crews spent Sunday night getting excess water out of the building and placing air handlers and dehumidifiers throughout hallways and classrooms.

School was closed Monday, which was supposed to be the first day of the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readinees –– or STAAR –– testing. The broken pipe has forced the district to reschedule those testing dates.

Here's details on that, straight from the district:

Monday, March 26 - No School

Tuesday, March 27 - School for 9th grade students only - STAAR Writing Test - Early Release 2 p.m.

Wednesday, March 28 - School for 9th grade students only - STAAR Reading Test - Early Release 2 p.m.

Thursday, March 29 - All students report to school - 10th Grade STAAR Reading Field Test, 9th Grade End of Course Make-up day (Reading or Writing)

Friday, March 30 - All students report to school - 9th Grade End of Course Make-up day (Reading or Writing)

All students will return to Forney High School on Thursday, March 29 and Friday, March 30 at their regularly scheduled times.
