NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Former President George H.W. Bush plans to vote for Hillary Clinton this November, according to a Facebook post by a member of the Kennedy political family.
Kathleen Kennedy Hartington Townsend announced the news on the social media site after meeting with Mr. Bush on Monday, according to Politico.com.
Townsend is a former Maryland lieutenant governor and daughter of the late Robert F. Kennedy.
"The president told me he's voting for Hillary," the Facebook post said.
The 92-year-old former president had earlier supported son Jeb Bush's ultimately failed bid to win the Republican nomination this year.
A spokesman for the elder Bush, Jim McGrath, tells Politico that the former president's vote will be private and that he is not commenting on the presidential race.
Later in a post on Twitter, McGrath wasn't even willing to say the former president made the remarks.
"Those reporting how @GeorgeHWBush will vote this year, it's not even clear anyone was even there to verify," McGrath said. "Still checking; keep your powder dry."
