DeSoto (KRLD) - Two North Texas students remain in critical condition after a car crash Saturday killed their baseball teammate Chandlor Allen.

Anferne Allen, Chandlor's brother, and Keenan Clark are still at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

The three are all from the Duncanville/Desoto area, and the Allen brothers spent their freshman year at Duncanville High. They transferred to and graduated from DeSoto High, but their coach at Duncanville had seen Chandlor about a year ago.

"He got to come back and play on his original home field as a senior, when we played DeSoto," says coach Scott Fahey. "That's the last time I remember seeing him in uniform on our field."

Chandlor and his old coach had managed to catch up in between innings.

"Just chitchat back and forth, how everyone's doing, all that baseball lingo that goes on out on the field," says Fahey.

All three are freshman baseball players for Texas College in Tyler. Investigators say as they were traveling on I-20 from Tyler, their tire blew out, sending the car flipping. Clark, who was driving, was the only one to be wearing a seatbelt.

"The Allen brothers were great kids, fun to be around," says Fahey. They worked hard. I feel terrible for their family as they deal with this. It's a shame. Just a shame."
