Forecast For The Fourth

I hope you are one of those enjoying a day off Wednesday for the nation's birthday. We have a slew of events in store for North Texas to celebrate, from the parade in Arlington to the Willie's Picnic (concert) at the Billy Bob's Texas. It'll be a little bit on the warm side Wednesday, but it'll be dry weather for our area.

Last year, we had a 100-degree day for the Fourth. This year, it'll be close, in the upper 90s. But it's possible we'll get about 10 days into July this year WITHOUT a triple-digit high (the forecast calls for 100 degrees for a high on Friday, but it'll be close). Temperatures are going to stay up for the next several days.

High pressure is centered over the central plains. This means very hot weather for Fourth of July fun from Minnesota to Kentucky.

This high pressure system means hot and dry weather for us all the way through Saturday. By Sunday, the high starts to drift to the west, opening the door for some Gulf moisture. This means more in clouds, less in temperatures, and some rain chances for our parched lands. The surface low over Mississippi on Saturday night spends the following days drifting west.

I expect the rain chances to improve by Sunday, but not peak until we get to Tuesday and Wednesday. We should have highs in the low 90s with the clouds.
