DROUGHT GETTING WORSE
The latest information on the drought came out today. 99% of Texas is in drought, with 75% of the state in the worst category of exceptional drought. This is an increase of 50% in just seven weeks! That gives you an idea of how quickly the soils are drying out and reservoir levels are dropping. The Metroplex is the only part of Texas not in drought, even though it is still abnormally dry. This will likely change in the next week or two as we expect 100% of Texas to be drought soon.
LITTLE HOPE FOR CHANGE
That annoying high pressure system will continue to stalk the southern 2/3 of the country into the weekend. There will be tiny disturbances that will be around, especially in south & east Texas…these may touch off a few showers here and there in our far southern and eastern counties. But most of North Texas will be hot & dry. We'll call the rain chance at a measly 10%. This image tells the sad tale..it's the running rainfall totals forecast now until Tuesday.
