Forecast Discussion for Monday, April 4
DRY AND COOL TONIGHT…
Much welcomed rain arrives this morning for some areas, but severe weather also accompanied the rain. Hail to half dollar size along with winds to 50 mph and a loud thunder and lightning display woke a lot of people of this morning. Rainfall totals ranged from .5" to 1.5" for those areas that saw rain. But areas to the west didn't get much if any this morning.
RED FLAG WARNING continues for parts of North Texas until 8pm. Dallas and Tarrant are NOT included in the Red Flag Warning now. Basically the areas that saw rain this morning have been removed from the Red Flag Warning area.
What a windy two days too! Winds today have gusted up to 45 mph just like they did yesterday. The difference today is that this is now a north wind blowing. The Wind Advisory continues for all until 6pm.
Chilly weather will greet us tonight as temperatures drop into the low 40s and upper 30s. Winds will decrease later this evening. But winds will increase once again tomorrow afternoon.
WINDY AND MOSTLY DRY FOR THE WEEK…
As mentioned winds will pick back up later tomorrow afternoon and stay breezy all the way thru the weekend. Temperatures will be coolest on Tuesday with highs in the low 70s, but by Wednesday we are back in the 80s and probably getting to 90 for the upcoming weekend. Rain chances look low, but they will be with us on Friday and Saturday. There will be a pretty stout CAP in place on those two days. If we see a dry line get close enough to us on either day we could see a few storms. Most of the upper energy that would break a strong CAP will be out west and north of our area. So we will have to wait and see. If storms do break the CAP they would likely be strong to severe.
SUNDAY… This may be the day where we have a better chance of seeing some rain. The long range models are differing on the timing of our next cold front. The GFS wants to bring in a Pacific Front Sunday morning with some rain chances and then slightly cooler Sunday afternoon. The European model holds this front back until Sunday night into Monday. We are going to side with the European given it's better performance so far this Spring. So Sunday will also be warm with highs near 90 and a chance of storms in the evening and night Sunday.
