FORT WORTH (CBS11) - In West Fort Worth's Fairmount neighborhood early Thursday morning, hail broke windshields, dimpled cars and broke windows on people's homes.

Mary Harms had just finished her spring planting.

"All of my vegetables are gone," says Harms, who adds she should have known better.  "Well everyone was saying the spring has been too good. at some point something's gonna happen. And everyone kept saying it's going to be a late freeze whatever... Sure enough we didn't get a freeze, we got freezing hail."

"I've never seen it where it looked like snow out there," says Carolyn Goodrum, who lives in a home built in 1910.  "You know you have mostly small hail, and a few golf ball like that. but when i first came out this morning all i saw was the golf ball sized."

Her neighborhood is covered in hail stones.

"I had literally three to four inches of hail in the driveway," Goodrum says.
