FLOWER MOUND (CBSDFW.COM) - A Flower Mound woman says the city is abusing its power by "strong-arming" her to give up her land.

Monday night Flower Mound's city council could vote whether to take possession of a section of Janvier Scott's private dirt road by way of eminent domain.

Scott said the city told her it wanted a section of her road so it could build a short concrete road connecting two private business parking lots.

Flower Mound's mayor as well as its city manager declined to speak about the issue prior to Monday's meeting.

Fifty years ago the Scott family built its home on a 10-acre lot off of Long Prairie Road in Flower Mound.

"As soon as I come down the driveway it's an oasis," said Scott.

These days the family land is surrounded by new commercial construction.

Scott said she supports progress. "But why does it have to be done in an oppressive way?," she questioned.

"I can't figure how this is for the greater good of the community," she said. "They are taking my property for these guys to make more money."

On Monday, the agenda item regarding Scott's property was moved from the consent to the regular agenda.

Scott doesn't know if it will do any good but said she plans to voice her concerns once again the council.
