Flood Protection Lakes At Risk Of Flowing Over

LEWISVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - Today's projected rainfall will flow into already waterlogged reservoirs that protect our larger cities.
"We do have additional space to take on floodwaters. The amount of rain will impact how much we can take on, but we can't control how much rain we can get, but we do have additional storage in the reservoir," said Lewisville Lake Manager Rob Jordan.
Flood protection lakes such as Lake Lewisville and Lake Ray Roberts are at minor risk of flowing over.
But managers of Lake Lewisville and Ray Roberts said the system to move water from the lakes downstream is still working.
"The plan is to continue like you've done over the last several weeks to hold those floodwaters. We can take on the additional floodwaters," said Jordan.
Spillway releases to the Elm Fork of the Trinity River is the continued game plan, according to managers.
Lake Lewisville is currently 534 ft. above sea level.
