Finishing Touches Put On Ballpark For World Series

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - It's not every day you get paid to paint the grass. But it's not every day you host a World Series.

Artist Stephen Lord knows his work won't last long, but he also knows it will be seen by millions. He is the head artist in charge of painting the World Series logos on the grass near Home Plate at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

The Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals will face off Saturday, Sunday and (hopefully) Monday in games 3, 4 & 5 of the World Series.

The artists use a template to mark the ground, then use a Xerox copy from Major League Baseball to fill it in with the right colors.  Then they hope it doesn't rain.

Because the paint is water soluable…they may have to touch things up if it gets wet. The other thing, they need the grounds crews to mow around it, at least until Tuesday.
