Few Degrees Cooler, Few Storms

A few storms continue to move in from our northeast corner across Lamar, Delta and Hopkins counties. We'll be monitoring these storms tonight. There is a chance they could produce strong winds.

It is unlikely this activity will reach into the metro area. We haven't had measurable rain at the DFW airport in two weeks as burn bands, water restrictions and heat have set in.

Today we got over 100° again for the eighth day in a row.

The streak will likely stay alive for this work week. We do have some storms in the forecast for tomorrow, it they get over the DFW airport it could keep this temperatures under the triple mark.

There are some storms diving thr0ugh eastern Oklahoma. They could make it into our northern counties of Lamar and Fannin along the Red River.

Outflow boundaries from these storms teamed with a weak front that has come into north Texas should trigger a few storms tomorrow afternoon. The chances are small but they easily surpass the chances we've had over the last couple of weeks.  Below you can see FutureSky Forecast predicting amble rain activity tomorrow. I don't know if coverage will be this good but it certainly makes me optimistic at least a few storms will develop.

The high pressure dome that has been providing such hot weather of late has slid over into the desert southwest. THERE IS NOT A HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT tomorrow for the metro area. The high moving west also creates a northern flow aloft which does two things for us. One, it means slightly cooler temperatures and two, it keeps very small storm chances (10%-20%)  in the forecast through Thursday.

Highs in these week will hover around 100 degrees or just above most of the week.

TROPICAL STORM ERNESTO

It appears Ernesto will move across the Yucatan on Wednesday and is forecast to hit Mexico on Friday. Right now the forecast is to hit well south of Texas in Mexico as a Category One hurricane:
