FRISCO (CBS11) - Fans of the Frisco RoughRiders baseball team are praising the response to an act of vandalism.

Sunday night was the second to last game of the season. It was a fun, holiday weekend for fans of the Rangers' AA team.

More than 11,000 fans – the 5th largest crowd in team history – packed into Dr. Pepper Ballpark.

During the game, parking attendant employees patrolling the lot noticed that some vehicles didn't look right.

They discovered tires slashed on eight vehicles.

Scott Burchett, the RoughRiders COO, says the team didn't want the vandalism to disrupt the atmosphere of the game.

"We wanted to make the best of an unfortunate situation. Our goal is customer service from the time [guests] show up until the time that they leave, so what we tried to do was step in and make the best of it," said Burchett.

They collected license plate numbers, and displayed the information on the jumbotron to notify the guests whose vehicles had damaged tires.

Before the game was over, a handful of front office employees rolled up their sleeves and went out into the parking lot. Using flashlights and tire irons, they helped change tires on the vehicles affected.

They also helped an out-of-state guest who had two flat tires, by putting him up in a hotel for the night.

Fans thanked the employees for their actions, along with Frisco police, who also helped out.

"People were disappointed that someone would do this to their car, but they were thankful we had some good people who were able to step up and help out when the situation called for it," Burchett said.

The vandalism wasn't caught on surveillance video, but anyone with information is asked to report it to the Frisco Police Department. This type of incident has never happened at games before, Burchett said.

"We have our parking staff to keep an eye on things. We have our ballpark security that monitors outside and inside the facility, and Frisco Police are also here," said Burchett.
