Fake Lawyer Fleeces Flower Mound Residents
FLOWER MOUND (CBSDFW.COM) - Flower Mound police are objecting to a phoney lawyer.
Investigators claim the man who calls himself Lonnie Woods of the Woods Law Firm is no attorney, although he's convinced people in at least two cases he is.
"He's actually come in and represented those folks in court, and filed some fraudulent documents with the court and collected a fee," said Flower Mound police captain Kurt Labhart.
Labhart says the documents were summarily tossed by a judge. He says Woods is really a man named Donald Mason, and because the victims were not really represented by an attorney they found arrest warrants had been issued for them.
Labhart worries there may be other victims in other towns.
Anyone with information on Mason is asked to contact the Flower Mound Police Department at (972) 874-3307. The Denton County Crime Stoppers are also offering a $1,000 reward.
