GARLAND (CBSDFW.COM) - Six months of fun and excitement... Week after week along with trips to fan shops in between…

Now the fun is over for Dallas Cowboys fans.

"It's still a little bit hurtful but we're trying to get back into the swing of things," said diehard Cowboys fan Brandie Bohmer.

It all came to an end last weekend and medical experts said if fans feel physically ill about it -- they may actually suffer from addiction withdrawal. Symptoms include: depression, loss of appetite and withdrawing socially.

Bohmer along with her husband and four children are so accustomed to Sunday excitement from the Cowboys inspiring season, that the loss of it is more than just a downer.

"You definitely are a little more sluggish and we stayed awake a lot more," she said.

Nearly 18 straight weeks of Cowboys football can turn hardcore fans into addicts, according to Dr. Ann Marie Warren, PhD/Baylor Medical Center.

"There are some studies and research that show it affects the same parts of the brain that affects other types of addiction," said Warren.

The Bohmers are already starting to suffer from withdrawals.

"A lot of people need something to replace that with because that energy and excitement they put into that is gone," said Dr. Warren.

The Bohmers are going to kick their football habit with more family time.

"You know I guess we're just gonna break out the family games and watch the football game because that's the family that we are," said Bohmer.
