DALLAS, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - The man investigators say they believe is the "evening burglar" has been connected by law enforcement over the years to nearly 200 home burglaries in the past decade.

Police arrested Corey Caldwell Friday in Coppell after a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) helicopter followed him into a neighborhood and watched as he allegedly broke into several homes.

Caldwell has been charged with three counts of burglary and for violating his parole, although; investigators say they believe he's behind more than thirty break-ins in Plano, Dallas, Allen, and Coppell in the past two months.

Eight years ago, law enforcement connected Caldwell to dozens of burglaries in Duncanville and DeSoto, including more than a hundred break-ins when he was a wanted fugitive for a year after he escaped from a holding cell at the Dallas County Courthouse.

In a new release issued by the U.S. Marshal Service in November 2007 announcing the capture of Caldwell, the federal agency wrote Caldwell is considered a suspect "in over 200 similar burglaries that have occurred since the escape."

Caldwell faced organized crime charges and decades in prison. However, after appeals, dismissals, and time served Caldwell was released from state prison last year.

The Giffords, whose Dallas home police suspect was burglarized by Caldwell last month, said it's frustrating to learn of his lengthy criminal record.

"It just goes to show if he gets back out he going to do it again," said Grant Gifford. "This is something that's a pattern for him."

Police also arrested Winston Riden Friday evening.  He faces three counts of burglary of a habitation.

Investigators say they believe Riden was Caldwell's accomplice.  According to the arrest warrant, Riden drove Caldwell to the Coppell neighborhood and was waiting to pick him up.
