CLEBURNE (CBSDFW.COM)- An 80-year-old Cleburne resident was the victim of a warrant fees telephone scam.

A person posing as an employee in the Johnson County Sheriff's Office called the victim and said there were warrants for their arrest.

The scammer warned to avoid arrest, fines needed to paid  and could be paid to the county's PayPal account.

According to Cleburne Police, the suspect even used names of Johnson County Deputies.

Cleburne PD is investigating this case. Police said several scam phone calls have been made to Johnson County citizens.

According to Sheriff Bob Alford, Johnson County doesn't collect warrants fines or bond money over the phone nor do they use PayPal and all fines are collected in person at a government office.

Authorities want any other victims of scam calls to contact the Johnson County Sheriff's Office and file a report at 817-556-6058.
