Drought Update For Texas... Improvement!

DROUGHT UPDATE…

Every Thursday we get the new update on the status of the drought in Texas.  The news is good as much of the state has seen precipitation over the past week.   Here's a map showing the water equivilant of rainfall and snowfall over the past 7-days.

As you can see a lot of rain fell across the state especially in the southeastern part.

This really helped the lesson the severity of the drought according to the latest Drought Monitor.

Here's how the state looks now:

Here is the legend for the map above.

Now here is the Drought Monitor for North Texas.

Note how much of the area north of I-20 is now in the yellow shading which is considered Abnormally Dry.  Officially this means those areas shaded in light yellow are no longer in a drought.

STILL A LARGE PRECENTAGE OF STATE IS IN DROUGHT...

Here is a look at the drought levels across the state.

LAKE LEVELS:

The rainfall has helped our lakes in North Texas.  Here are some of the lake levels.  Every lake is below conservation level and these numbers reflect how many feet below conservation level each lake is.

RAIN FORECAST:

No rain in the forecast until Monday of next week.  But rain chances don't look terribly great.  Most of the rain Monday will be in eastern sections of North Texas.  FORECAST UPDATE HERE
