Drought Continues To Worsen
JUNE 27, 2012 UPDATE
Much of the state remains in a drought. The areas shaded in orange, red and dark red are areas in a drought. This represents 84% of the state. The areas in yellow and white are areas not technically in the drought.
Last year at this time 67% of the state was in a drought. That has jumped to 84% this year. And the % of the state in Extreme Drought which it he red shaded areas jumped from 6% to 30%
RAINFALL UPDATE
10 of the past 12 months have seen below average rainfall. Going back to June 1, 2012, we are behind nearly 13" of rainfall at DFW.
RAIN NEEDED TO END DROUGHT
Below is a map showing how much is needed to end the drought in the next 4 weeks. This is definitely not going to happen in the next four weeks.
