Don't Know Jack? Sheep's Owner Says He's Key To A Rangers Win

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) – Rangers fan Clark Chandler wanted anyone who walked by him on their way to the Ballpark entrance to meet Jack Saturday afternoon.

Standing just above his owner's knee, Jack's a sheep and an ex-service animal whose owner looks at him as a good luck charm. When the Green Bay Packers made it to Super Bowl XLV, Chandler painted his pal's coat green.

And the Packers beat the Pittsburgh Steelers.

On Saturday, hours before the first pitch would be tossed out in the Ballpark, Jack's coat was Ranger Red, complete with a blue "T" emblazoned in the middle of his body.

"He brings smiles to everybody," Chandler said. "It's awesome to be riding and having him running next to me. That's the reason I had him tattooed on my leg."

At a crowded Ballpark overrun with sights and sounds, Jack is a rare crowd-stopper. And Crawford, jokingly, says he'll be the reason the Rangers "lamb-bast" the Cardinals Saturday night.

"He brought good luck to the Super Bowl," Chandler bragged. Fellow Rangers fan Cleta Childers scurried over to the two to get a closer look.

"I mean, the "T" and everything? He is gorgeous," Childers said, pointing at the blue "T" painted on Jack. "Yes it's good luck! Texas Rangers, here we go!"

Off of Collins Street, dueling pianos built the party-atmosphere leading up to the duel in the Ballpark.

"We came out here to celebrate the Rangers and cheer them on to another win," said Rose Barner, standing near the pianos.

Participants said Saturday's Pep Rally gave fans a chance to party and avoid the mayhem at the Ballpark without sacrificing sharing the experience with other fans.

"I love it! I love it! It shows the community all pulling together," Barner said.
