DISD Eliminates 450 Jobs
DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Today the Dallas school district notified 200 central staff employees their positions have been eliminated, effective immediately.
A total of 450 positions were eliminated. That includes 200 today, as well as 250 positions eliminated by vacancies, re-assignments, as well as people who decided to take the district's early resignation offer.
The eliminated jobs are all non-teaching positions.
Superintendent Michael Hinojosa says while this will save the district $25 million, this is a very sad day for the district.
The DISD is facing a budget deficit somewhere between $88 million to $126 million less than the current school year's budget.
