DISD Chief Of Staff Resigns

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Dallas Independent School District's Chief of Staff stepping down immediately.

Alan King joined the district in January 2011, as chief financial officer. He then served as Interim Superintendent for one year, before taking on Chief of Staff duties.

"Alan King has served the district ably and with integrity in every capacity and I wish him well," said Superintendent Mile Miles.

"During our discussion today, Alan told me that when he accepted the position of Chief of Staff, he felt it would be temporary until our new administrative team was in place. Now that the first 100 days has been completed and a new administrative team is solidly in place, he felt as if he had accomplished his goal of shepherding the transition."

King is leaving the district in a stronger financial position than when he started, according to Miles. The projected balance for the district's fund at the end of the 2011-2012 school year is $189 million.

"It has been an honor for me to serve this school district and I wish all of the best to the elected trustees, Superintendent Miles, the new administration as well as the staff of the Dallas Independent School District," said King. "I am proud of the continued progress made by the nearly 20,000 dedicated employees in the district."

Before joining the DISD, King served as deputy superintendent for the Lewisville Independent School District.
