FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) — A plague of technical problems aside, organizers of Fort Worth's "Slide The City" at PantherFest claim they broke the world record Saturday for longest distance traveled in a one-hour slip-and-slide.

At first, those at PantherFest had to cancel the first wave of the slide, which was set to run for four hours this afternoon. Originally scheduled for an 11am start date, the nearly-2,000-foot slide did not open to brave patrons until about 5:30pm. Many also experienced heat sickness while waiting in line. First responders treated several people for heat-related illnesses and some continued to struggle with the heat into the evening. However once the slide was up and running, sliders had a blast splashing down Main Street.

For anyone who bought tickets for that first wave that was cancelled this morning, organizers promise your money will be refunded.
