LOS ANGELES (CBS NEWS) - Actress Demi Lovato opened up to British magazine Fabulous about her recovery from an eating disorder and dealing with fame and drugs in Hollywood.

The 19-year-old former Disney Channel star told the magazine about her early exposure to drugs and alcohol, despite being underage. "Promoters gave me drugs and alcohol in restaurants or clubs," she admitted to Fabulous. "They wanted me to come back so I would be seen there. They were basically kissing my ass. I thought they were my friends. I thought I was having fun."

Lovato, who grew up in the DFW area and was admitted to rehab in November 2010, said that she understands how some celebrities can get into trouble. "Being a celebrity can be dangerous. Nobody says 'no.' That's why so many end up overdosing and dying. It could definitely have happened to me," she told the magazine.

The singer-actress has suffered from bulimia since age 12, saying she'd make herself sick "up to six times a day." Now, after completing a year-and-a-half of treatment, she said that she is still insecure about her size 10-12 body. "I need to be secure in my body before I go back in front of the camera," said Lovato. "Anyone in recovery from an eating disorder would find that triggering, and I'm not ready."
