Day Ten Of Hot
We'll top out this afternoon at around 102° in the metroplex, our 10th day of triple-digit highs:
Rain is moving in from the west toward the metroplex this morning. Just like yesterday morning, most of this activity will avoid the metro. Most of us just have morning clouds and a warm, muggy start to the day.
A slow moving cold front moves towards us this afternoon.
It will bring in some storm chances, mostly for areas NW of the metro:
A stationary front lingers over the north Texas and vicinity over the weekend. The dome of high pressure that has produced our hot and dry weather pattern slides off to the west. This opens the door for a tropical disturbance to move into south Texas. It will greatly increase the moisture content of the atmosphere above us; this translates into better storm chances.
The better storm chances will be southeast of the metro area. This is also the same rain chance outlook for Sunday.
With the increased cloud cover and storm chances we'll bring down the forecasted highs to the double-digits. Another cold front moves into north Texas on Wednesday. This will bring down the temperatures a little more while bringing up the storm chances:
