DALLAS (AP) - Two male lions at the Dallas Zoo who failed to do their part in a breeding effort have been sent to the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston.

The Dallas Zoo on Monday announced the transfer of the 6-year-old siblings called Dinari and Kamaia.

Zoo officials say the male lions showed little interest in females. The breeding program was part of the African Lion Species Survival Plan by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Authorities say the Franklin Park Zoo has no plans to continue breeding efforts with those two lions.

The animals were born in 2009 at the Lee Richardson Zoo in Garden City, Kansas, then moved to Dallas after their first birthdays.

The Dallas Zoo plans to bring in a new male lion for the breeding effort.
