Dallas Woman Duped In Craigslist Transaction

DALLAS (CBS11) - A Dallas woman trying to make a little extra cash by selling a PS3 on Craigslist instead got duped out of her dollars.
"It's embarrassing," said Victoria Cruse, a Dallas resident.
Cruse was selling her old gaming system for $200.
A buyer called her and wanted to meet at a nearby 7-Eleven. Cruse was given an envelope of money.
"I opened it up and it seemed pretty legitimate," said Cruse.
But when Cruse started counting through her $200 in the bright light after the exchange, she realized the money was counterfeit.
"It was weird because this should look like play money and it doesn't," said Cruse.
The first $20 was real. The rest appeared to be copies with the same serial numbers, marks and strange feel to the touch.
"It's pretty low in the grand scheme of things," said Cruse.
Cruse also remembers the buyer insisting on them meeting early in the morning or later at night. She thinks it was done to use the lack of visibility to the buyer's advantage.
"If it just saves just a couple of people some heartache and maybe even some financial ache I'm okay with that," said Cruse.
The Secret Service was contacted and Dallas Police investigators are looking into the matter.
