Dallas Sets Citizen Meetings On Capital Bond Idea

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The Dallas City Council wants to make sure what they're thinking is in line with what residents want.

Last month, CBS 11's Bud Gillett reported councilmembers began work on a bond referendum focusing primarily on streets.  The initial figure for the proposal is between $450 and $550 million for street improvements and flood control.

Today, the city announced a series of meetings with councilmembers and residents to get their input on the issue.  After the meetings, city staff will develop a 2012 Capital Bond Program recommendation.  That will be followed by more town hall meetings and, possibly, a citywide vote in November.

The first meeting is set for next Tuesday, February 21st, at noon.  The meeting will be hosted by councilmember Vonciel Jones Hill at the Pleasant Oaks Recreation Center.
