DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - For a second straight night, hundreds of demonstrators rallied and marched in downtown Dallas to protest the election of President-elect Donald Trump.

"This election has given us a result of a man who has promised his presidency will be an attack on many people in our community, and many of the most vulnerable," said protestor Daniel Sullivan. "An attack on immigrants, an attack on people of color... an attack on the LGBTQ community. And the message we're trying to send is that the community is going to fight back and that every step he takes, when he tries to cross over people's rights, we're going to fight him."

About 300 people gathered Thursday night at Dealey Plaza to speak against the election. Just like Wednesday night, Thursday's demonstration was peaceful.

Police did however arrest a 22-year-old woman they said had methamphetamine and a gun in her purse.

It ended with a march into the heart of downtown Dallas by demonstrators carrying signs bearing such slogans as "No Misogyny Hate!", "Love Trumps Hate" and "Spirit Unbreakable."

"There are many people at home now who are feeling depressed, upset, sad, anxious -- what they need to feel is angry. They need to get on their feet and fight back. And this isn't going to be a short fight -- unless Congress has sudden attack of common sense, we expect to be fighting this man for the next 4 years," said Sullivan.
