DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A neighborhood in north Dallas is on the lookout for a possible child molester, and now police are asking for the public's help. Authorities said that two girls were playing in the laundry room of the Linda Vista Apartments along Maham Road when the assault took place.
The incident happened 10 days ago. The two girls, ages 8 and 10, told their parents that a man fondled them in the apartment complex's laundry room. They then ran to tell their parents what had happened, but attempts to then locate the man were not successful. He had seemingly disappeared.
Without a suspect, the parents did not call police at that time.
But six days later, the girls spotted the same man at the apartment complex again. This time, their parents were able to snap a photograph of the suspect. They called police, but the man was gone by the time that officers arrived.
News about assault has nearby parents worried. "Everybody is scared," said Bernadina Gutierrez. "All the streets was full with people watching their kids. Everybody's watching."
Law enforcement officials do not have many details about the alleged predator, so they are counting on the photograph to lead them to the man. He has been described as a Hispanic male, around 5 feet 7 inches tall and 170 pounds, likely between 30 and 40 years old.
Anyone with information about the man is asked to call the Dallas Police Department immediately.
