Dallas Police K-9 Squad Honored At Dog Show

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The Dallas Police Department K-9 Squad was honored Sunday at the Texas Kennel Club Dog Show.

The Texas Kennel Club presented a plaque to the K-9 Squad to signify their partnership and commitment to public service and canine welfare.

Senior Corporal Curtis Steger and Canine Orry, Senior Corporal Susan Millard and Canine Yoll received the plaque.

The Texas Kennel Club has to date provided 5 bullet/stab proof vests to the members of the DPD K-9 Squad. The vests are made specifically for each police dog.

The Dallas Police Department K-9 Squad was formed in 1961 with three handlers chosen from more than 200 volunteers. It currently has several different departments utilizing German Shepherds for explosive sniffing, drug sniffing and perpetrator tracking.
