DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- A Dallas police officer has been arrested for aggravated assault following a physical altercation with a female.

Officers were dispatched to Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas where they met with an injured female complainant.

An investigation revealed that a disturbance between Officer Julian Harris and a female escalated into a physical altercation at his apartment in Dallas. The woman received serious bodily injuries from the incident.

Officer Harris reported to the Domestic Violence Unit and was placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault. He was then transported Thursday to the Dallas County Jail, where he is being held on $25,000 bond.

An emergency protective order was placed on Harris to prevent him from having contact with the complainant. He has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

Officer Harris was hired on June 19, 2013 and is assigned to the South Central Patrol Division.
