SOUTHSIDE DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Close to 4,000 of Donald Trump supporters will converge inside Gilley's Dallas for the presumptive Republican nominee's rally tonight.
But among those who aren't in attendance include Dallas County's Republican Party Chairman Mark Montgomery or its executive director. Both said they had prior commitments.
A meet and greet for county Republicans in Mesquite was scheduled two weeks ago, and the other, a private event for Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush, the grandson and nephew of presidents George H.W. and George W Bush.
"It's not a slight. That's just the way things worked out. We got late notice and it's hard to change things at the last minute," said Montgomery.
Montgomery said he and the Dallas GOP back Trump 100 percent and will work to get him elected.
However, the Republican Party is still very divided over whether to support Trump.
