Dallas Cowboys Release Fullback Lawrence Vickers
DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - The Dallas Cowboys announced Friday that they have released fullback Lawrence Vickers, one week before the start of training camp in Oxnard, CA.
The move came after Vickers had back surgery following the season and worked only on the side during offseason practices.
Dallas is unlikely to carry a fullback on the roster after loading up on tight ends behind Jason Witten. The Cowboys drafted Gavin Escobar in the second round and signed veteran Dante Rosario. Second-year player James Hanna is also in the mix.
30-year old Vickers, who originally signed with Dallas on March 2012, appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys in 2012 with six starts.
He finished the season with three rushes for 11 yards, 13 catches for 104 yards and two tackles on special teams.
