DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The Dallas County sheriffs department is working to get employees and other cities affected by the tornadoes over the weekend, the help they need.
Melinda Urbina with the department says they have 21 employees who either suffered damage to their homes, vehicles or in one case, lost a loved one.
"A father and a step son actually lost a loved one in the Garland tornado. A couple of other deputies actually lost their home. They are completely totaled."
She says another one lost his patrol vehicle in the twister.
Urbina says many of them have not been able to get to their homes for an extended period of time to gather things. They are collecting clothes, food and finding them a place to stay to meet immediate needs.
In addition, Urbina says they are assisting the cities of Garland, Glenn Heights, Rowlett and Sunnyvale.
