Cowboys Stadium Gets A Super Makeover
ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Ground crews rolled out the green carpet at Cowboys Stadium Tuesday.
Stadium contractors are working around the clock to make sure everything runs smoothly on Super Bowl Sunday.
Despite what seems to be construction chaos, guided tours of the stadium continue to run on schedule. Ryan Novak was visiting from Wisconsin.
"We were in the parking lot wondering what's going on. Then we remembered in four weeks, the super bowl is coming up. So it's sort of an added bonus to be here right before," Novak said.
Temporary seats are being added to the party pass platforms where fans typically stand for Cowboys games. The additional seats will boost the stadium's capacity to nearly 105,000 fans.
Brand new turf is being added to parts of the field. Long strips of turf were laid in along the 25-yard lines on both ends of the field.
"The 25s normally have the NFL shield on them. They're still going to have an NFL shield, but it's going to be a Super Bowl NFL shield," says grounds crew foreman John Linville.
The stadium ground crews are holding off on painting most of the logos and both end zones they learn which teams will actually play in the big game.
Inside and out, Cowboys Stadium is getting a makeover. Crews are building a platform for a massive tent that will welcome high-end tailgaters.
And drivers beware. Electronic warning signs are now flashing alerts. Just about every road around the stadium will be altered or closed in the coming weeks to host an event that may possibly alter the future of North Texas.
