Cowboys Randle: 'Biggest Mistake Of My Life'

IRVING, Texas (105.3 THE FAN) - Joseph Randle says his arrest for shoplifting, which has resulted in national ridicule from the football world and a "significant'' fine from the Dallas Cowboys, is "the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life. I have never got in any kind of trouble in my whole life. This is just something I have to learn from and move forward."

Randle was on the practice field Wednesday at Valley Ranch after meeting with coach Jason Garrett and his teammates and apologizing for  his Monday arrest on a misdemeanor charge of theft for shoplifting a pack of underwear and a bottle of cologne from a Dillard's in Frisco.

"I know there's big-time consequences for things in life," Randle said after practice. "I disappointed a lot of people who really care about me like my brothers on my team, the coaches around here, this whole organization, people who have supported me, my family, my dad. I let a lot of people down. I am really just trying my best to make it up to them and do whatever I've got to do to get past this."

Randle, the Cowboys backup running back, was working with the first team on Wednesday as NFL leading rusher DeMarco Murray rested due to an illness. Randle will be allowed to participate Sunday against the visiting Giants, his official punishment coming in the form of what sources tell 105.3 The Fan could be near $30,000..

His unofficial punishment, of course, is serving as a butt of jokes to the public and serving as a potential distraction to a 5-1 Cowboys team.

"It was hard coming back into the locker room, looking at people who care about me in the eyes, knowing that I did something stupid," Randle said. "I had to talk to them about it. I can't just go like nothing happened. I had to address the issues. ... It means a lot to be out there with my team. I love this game and I love the team I play for. I try my best to rep the star the right way. I didn't do that. I am going to try my best to make it up to my teammates and all of the people that really care about me.''
