Cowboys Playoff Tickets Go On Sale

ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Playoff fever in North Texas has officially begun.

Tickets for the first Dallas Cowboys home playoff game in five years went on sale Monday at AT&T Stadium.

Nearly 100 people were in line moments before the ticket office opened at noon, ready to purchase their tickets to watch the Cowboys take on the Detroit Lions.

CBS 11's Jack Fink talked to one man who had been waiting since 10 p.m. Sunday to make sure he could get his hands on playoff tickets.  Other fans started lining up around 5 a.m.

"Everybody is going to try to buy their tickets online at Ticketmaster and from the Dallas Cowboys online," said Hank Wendorf from TicketSource.com in Arlington.

Wendorf anticipates once the game sells out, fans will turn to the secondary market and his phones will begin to ring off the hook.

"Now that we have an opponent and date, things are starting to heat up," he said.

Wendorf says ticket prices range from $125 for seats in the upper corner endzone to $1000 for club level seats between the 40-yard-lines.

Party passes, which will get you in the stadium without a seat, are trading for about $60 each.

Wendorf says he senses fans are a lot more excited about the playoffs now than they were five years ago.

"The interest in going to this game has increased in the past couple of weeks with the way the team has beat up on the eagles and the redskins, on the road," said Wendorf.  "This is a first time occurrence...we have never had this much momentum, winning 4 games in December."

On StubHub.com, tickets range from $55 for party passes to more than $26,000 to rent a Hall of Fame suite, which comes with 21 game tickets.

Kickoff for Sunday's game is 3:40 p.m.  The Cowboys are the third seed in the NFC.  If they defeat Detroit (which is the sixth seed), they will go on the road to face the second seeded Green Bay Packers.
