Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Speaks About Controversial Greg Hardy Signing

PHOENIX (CBSDFW.COM) - Jerry Jones is speaking for the first time about his controversial decision to sign defensive end Greg Hardy last week.

"There's no question Jason (Garrett) wants a team that is made up of the finest character players, and the finest talent you can have. The real world is you don't get all of that," said Jones at the NFL owners meetings being held in Phoenix this week.

Jones says as part of his one year contract, the team has an agreement that addresses Hardy's domestic violence conviction last year and makes him accountable for his future actions.

"We have a great agreement with him, that requires him to account to the NFL, all other teams, society, relative to what he does to play football. And that agreement is thorough and accomplishes everything you expect us to have if we were wanting him to not do that again."
