Cooler to Start July
After the hottest day of the year so far on Friday a near record low is in store for us by Tuesday morning. Highs on Monday look to top out in the 80's, a significant drop from last Friday:
You'll notice lower humidity and finally a break in the heat today:
An upper air pattern has locked down over most of the lower 48 states. Compare the forecast on Sunday to Thursday:
This pattern is great for north Texas, the large high pressure dome to our west (clockwise flow) and low pressure system to our east (counter-clockwise flow) will team up to funnel a cooler north wind for us.
Unfortunately this persistent pattern is going to expand the heat wave that is currently over the desert southwest and drive it north into the inter-mountain west. Meanwhile, the east coast is going suffer repeated heavy rains that will create flooding conditions from South Carolina to Massachusetts:
The upper level low is forecast to shift west toward the central plains. This puts a small chance of storms in our forecast for the 4th of July and into the holiday weekend.
Meanwhile, enjoy this below-normal temperatures to start the new month with. The mornings will actually get close to record lows on Tuesday and Wednesday!
