Cool Weather For Weekend
Dry weather will be the theme for the weekend with only light rain (and warmer weather) for next week. After the deluge over last weekend and brush with snow, the local reservoirs barely rose in the wake of our historic drought. We are still almost 10" short of yearly rainfall at DFW and water supplies reflect that.
TODAY/TONIGHT
This will be the warmest day of the work week, highs should top out in the low-to-mid 50's. A southeast wind at 5-10mph and mostly sunny skies will help our cause. Lows tonight will drop through the 40's during the evening. Overnight lows will get right to the freezing point again with clouds coming in from the south.
FRIDAY FORECAST
A cold front moves through here in the early morning hours, it'll be a re-enforcing shot of winter temperatures. It'll bring a north wind and some clouds but not precipitation. Highs tomorrow will struggle to get to the low 50's with some sunshine by afternoon.
WEEKEND FORECAST:
Cloud cover and a north wind will keep temperatures only in the upper 40's for most of north Texas on Saturday. The overnight low will get just below freezing heading into Sunday. The second half of the weekend is much the same as the first half: clouds and cold. Highs Sunday will only get to the low 50's. We'll have spent every day since the Saturday before with below-normal temperatures, an eight-day run.
A LITTLE LIGHT RAIN NEXT WEEK
Warmer temperatures, a steady south wind and clouds will be the weather of next week. We put in a 20% rain chance for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, it should be just light rain at that so not much to help the drought. It will be warmer, overnight lows in the 40's and daytime highs in the mid-50's on Monday, around 60° on Tuesday and in the mid-60's on Wednesday. That would be the warmest day in two weeks, it will be rather windy however. Below you can see the 5-day rainfall total prediction from HPC, they keep the heaviest rain amounts to our south in the Lone Star State.
